Refurbishing the Home Lounge at Manchester City’s Football Academy
Manchester City Football Club appointed Deanhouse Group as the Official Supplier for the full refurbishment of the Home Lounge, at their City Football Academy. The project saw us transform the space into a refreshed food, beverage and lounge environment to better support academy players and staff.
From strip out to handover, we managed the entire programme in-house, bringing together bespoke joinery, manufacturing and controlled on-site delivery within one of the country’s most high-profile sports clubs.
The scope covered every aspect of the space. Existing counters, partitions and finishes were removed to create a revised layout. New partitions, improved accessibility and safety flooring were added throughout, while we also managed a full redecoration, including upgraded wall finishes.
Bespoke Joinery
Joinery was at the core of this project. Our in-house team manufactured a range of bespoke elements, including front and rear service counters, tea and coffee stations, banquette and integrated seating and more. Every piece was designed and built to work seamlessly in the wider space, integrating with the environment from the outset.
Safety & Electrical Works
Beyond the aesthetic upgrades, Deanhouse also delivered electrical upgrades, mechanical and plumbing alterations, fire alarm modifications and firestopping works, all to suit the new layout.
Live Environment
Working within an active elite sports facility brought its own demands. The academy operates under strict safety regulations, and the refurbishment had to be delivered without disrupting the day-to-day environment. As Principal Contractor we implemented controlled phasing and clear sequencing to keep the programme on track, without disrupting operations.
An Evolving Brief
Design development evolved as the project progressed, with client feedback shaping elements of the scheme throughout. Having our technical design and manufacturing teams in-house meant we could respond quickly and accurately, incorporating changes without affecting timescales.
The Result
The refurbished Home Lounge offers a high-quality, functional and welcoming environment that supports both efficient food service and comfortable day-to-day usage for academy players and staff. This project demonstrates our ability to manage complex, design-led refurbishments within live, high-profile sporting environments, bringing together bespoke joinery, multiple trades and precise on-site delivery to make the interior designs a reality.
