We’re thrilled to welcome our new Project Manager, Steuart Scarratt, to the team! Steuart brings a wealth of experience in the shopfitting sector, and we can’t wait to see how his expertise will help us improve our processes here at Deanhouse Group.
We put Steuart in the hot seat to find out a bit more about him and what he’s most excited about within his new role.
What is your background, and how did you become a Project Manager?
I was a Senior Account Manager for a shopfitting specialist, and my role naturally evolved into project management, so it was not a career path I was following, more a path I was taken down, and I absolutely love it.
What route did you take to get into the industry, i.e., University/Apprenticeship/Work Experience?
I started out as a picker and packer but quickly showed skills that helped me climb the ladder, leading to supervisory roles, team leader and assistant account manager roles. So all of my experience has been gained by watching and learning from my peers. Nothing beats on-site work experience to keep you on your toes.
What most excites you about Deanhouse, and what do you most enjoy about the project manager role?
I thrive in a fast-paced environment, and I’m known for my ability to identify risks early, solve problems collaboratively, and keep teams aligned around shared objectives. Mostly, I love working to ensure customers and clients see my commitment to continuously improving quality, standards, and customer satisfaction by being the best I can be.
Deanhouse Group is a great fit for my skills and shares the same ethos, so I hope that, with the support of my new work family, we can have a great year and build towards a brighter and more successful future together.
What things are happening in the industry that you feel inspired by?
Sustainability is becoming a standard, rather than optional. Using new products and seeing innovations brought to market gives me inspiration to keep pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved.
What are some challenges within your role?
There are many challenges faced by Project Managers; the usual ones are Scope, Time Pressure, Budget constraints, and Cost Control, but the biggest issue I see is communication breakdowns. That said, as a PM, these are issues we deal with head-on, daily. The job would be boring if it were easy!
Welcome aboard, Steuart! We’re excited to have you on the team and can’t wait to see you get stuck into our upcoming projects!
Interested in joining our team? We’re always on the lookout for great people who share our energy, creativity, and love of the job.
